The Redland City Big Band rehearses Monday nights from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm under the direction of Dr David Salisbury. It caters for competent adult musicians of all ages who have an interest in playing a variety of music with a big band concept.
This band has a line up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, guitars, drums and keyboard and a mix of experienced jazz players and some that have joined from the other concert bands.
The Big Band plays two to three dances a year with Jazz, Latin and Cuban music, jazz festivals, as well as a number of generic gigs with a bit more contemporary jazz music and some rock thrown in and has vocalists as well who are part of the group.
Currently we require Lead, 1st or 2nd Trumpets. If you have some experience playing jazz, latin or other band music, or know someone else who may be interested, and want to check it out you can drop in to a rehearsal on Monday nights at the band hall at 7PM to hear what we are playing and have a talk about your potential interest. The Big Band plays two dances a year plus other outside Gigs such as Redfest, Brisbane Big Band Festival at the Jazz Club, Wynnum Manly Big Band Festival and other engagements as we find them.
